Taking a Close Look
to your Fleck Valve.
|
Brine/ Pot-Perm Connection: This
3/8 Brass Nut connection is used to hook up the Potassium Permanganate Tank when
the control Valve is used in a Greensand Permanganate Water Filtration System or
to the Brine Tank when the Fleck control Valve is used in a Water Softener System.
Drain Line: This drain hose barb
is generally located on the lower, backside or side of the valve. This Drain
line is used to hook up the 1/2 inch plastic drain hose connection from the
system to the drain your are going to be using.
Line In: Main Water line coming
into the system. An arrow indicates the direction of flow.
Line Out: Filtered Water coming
out of the system. An arrow indicated water flow.
Softener, Greensand and backwash only Installation
Guidelines:
Location: The system should be
located in a protected, dry, level and non-freezing area. The Pot Perm/Brine tank
if needed and Mineral tank should be within 5 feet of each other. A 120V, grounded
outlet should be accessible.
Installation:
- Turn off the main water shutoff valve and drain the lines by opening all
the faucets inside and outside.
- Cut and remove a section of the main incoming water line near where the
system is to be installed. Allowing this line to drain thoroughly.
- Now position your filter system in place for hook up.
- Connect the IN-LINE, OUT-LINE as shown in picture above.
- Connect the drain line using 1/2 inch plastic hose.
- If you are installing a Greensand Backwash Filter, connect
and fill the Pot Perm Tank. If you are installing a water softener, connect
and fill the brine tank. If you are installing a backwash only go to
step 7.
- Turn the water back on: Make sure your bypass valve is now in the bypass
position in order to prevent water from going inside the system at this
point. Turn your water on slowly, let all your faucets run until there is
not air in the lines. Turn off the faucets one by one leaving one cold
faucet half open to alleviate pressure when opening the bypass of the system
and letting water run thought it. Slowly open your bypass valve and begin
filling the resin tank with water. The half open faucet you left open, will
cause water to be running through the system. Let it open for a few minutes
until the water is clear and free from any rinsed out resin particles that
may be present.
- Check all connections for leaks.
- Look in the service manual that came with the system to plug in the system
to a 120v outlet and set up the time and/or water conditions, number of
people parameters.
- Set the system to manually regenerate. Once the cycle is completed, the
knob should be in the service position. It may take around 45 minutes for
the whole cycle to conclude. Once the system regenerates, you water is ready
to use. Enjoy it!
