The Greensand Filter comes with the Pot-Perm tank
that is used to hold the Potassium Permanganate solution that the system
requires when it regenerate. The system will suck from 2 to 4 ounces of this
solution every time it regenerates. You will need 5 pounds to start up the
system. You can get the potassium at your local hardware store. Just pour the
powder into the PotPerm tank and let water wet the cloth type pad located at the
bottom of the tank. A 5 pounds bottle should last you around 2 to 3 1/2 month
depending on the water condition. It is recommended that you clean the cloth
type pad every time you add potassium permanganate.
